President's Message
As the year 2025 draws to a close and with 2026 on the horizon I hope this message finds you all healthy, happy and a bit wiser as to what's going on, in and around the world. There seems to be a lot of misinformation and fake news out there. So do yourselves a favor and do your due diligence and don't believe everything you hear.
There is an old saying ("life is short") and it is so true. But unfortunately shorter for some than others. So be kind to each other and enjoy each day as if it were your last on earth and remember someone's opinion is just that an opinion. So respect someone else's opinion if it happens to differ from your own, and if you can't then at least agree to disagree instead of getting in a hissy fit and thinking yours is the only opinion that matters.
As of today I haven't gotten my wish that the war between Russia and Ukraine would be over and there could be lasting peace between the two countries. It takes both countries to want peace and although I believe President Volodmyr Zelensky of Ukraine genuinely wants peace I don't believe President Vladimir Putin of Russia does, so the war rages on for close to four years now with no end in sight. Maybe things will change in 2026?
On the Dragland family reunion front, I have proposed that we have a reunion in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia in April of 2027. At this time I am still negotiating with the DFA board of directors to make it happen. If not in Vancouver then perhaps somewhere else nice we can all agree on. There is also a suggestion of Victoria British Columbia.
If we can't come up with a location in the near future I am hopeful at least we can agree on the date of April /2027 so people can mark it on their calendar. And figure out a location within the next 6 months or so...
